2007 2.5T or 2008 2.4 diesel

Post by gmbhgmbh »

I've never owned a volvo before and I love non new cars and I've finally decided to go with the xc90. I was looking for a 7 seater but couldn't resist buying a wonderfully kept 2.5T even though this one has only 5 seats. And now that a week has passed since the purchase I've now been offered another beauty - the 2.4 diesel with 7 seats.
Both are 2008, both have around 160k miles and both have been well kept. One has 5 seats which will be fine most of the time, and one has 7 seats which is my prefference.
I know the 2.5T is the better engine yet I don't know enough about the diesel to decide between the two...
So what do you think I should do? 2.5T with 5 seats or 2.4 diesel.with 7?

State side we never saw the 2.4 diesel. I suggest you just look up the 2.4 diesel in any Volvo that uses that engine. Next I would look at the transmission the two variants use.

State side the 2.5T and its matching transmission have proven very solid. Parts are easy to source for both the transmission and engine plus are affordable. There is no shortage of write ups, if you plan on doing your own maintenance, for the 2.5T variant.
