I'd guess so. I've seen a few with that color.

I think that’s Aqua Blue Metallic , code 431
Nothing special about the 1998 electrical ignition switch. There was a part change in 1999, but any early 850/V70 will fit, Willie.
You can clean them up but a new part from Volvo is about $50 and it’s pretty mission critical. The problem with the starter button approach is you don’t get X relay function on cranking, and some of the electronics might not like that. You should be ok on a 1998, I think.
That back bumper is an easy repair for you guys in the South, two metal brackets after you remove the long downward facing screws on each end, and drill out the fender rivets to release the fender cover.
Details here..first post has a link to jreeds posting on the rear bumper.

Thanks guys, I ended up getting some more kinks worked out today. I jacked the rear end up from the trailer hitch HAHA, It pushed the rear bumper back slightly. now the gap isn't so noticeable, not perfect by any means, buy I'll sleep fine tonight.
Saturday while we tried pushing the car up into the driveway, the stupid drum parking brake would engage whenever going in the forward direction. All was good in reverse, so today I stripped the rear axle down to the hubs. I don't have a lot of pics today because my hands were filthy, and honestly I was trying to avoid the phone today. (Clients calling, but unable to take their money makes me ill sometimes). I got the ABS tone ring cleared out and the Ebrake cables loosened. I reinstalled the Ebrake pads at full slack, so now I have no Ebrake at all. But for now thats fine as the rear pads and rotors will be replaced before its tagged and insured. But it rolls. WOOP. I just generally cleaned up the rear braking system and put it back together so the neighbors cant bitch that its in pieces.

I also took 00 steel wool and cleaned the rims up. 22 years of brake duct.

I ran out of light and my sister locked her keys in the car so I had to rescue her an hour drive away. Tomorrow i'm headed to the junkyard to hopefully find a door card, another ignition switch and other odd and ends. wish me luck

I agree, it looks nice. The big thing, of course, is getting the engine running. You can hot wire the starter solenoid to see if it will turn over. If it does, I would replace the engine oil before you actually start the engine, no top end oil at this point, just something clean. What does the trans fluid look like? If nasty, drain and fill before you try to operate it. Check the air intake filter, that should be fairly clean before you run the engine.
If it looks like you've got a runner, junk yard parts can help you get it road-worthy without draining your back account. If a starter is a Bosch and isn't decrepit looking, I'd grab it. Bulbs, stock up. Check out any spark plug wires and MAF's if they look fairly fresh. Relays, too. The 103 (I think that's the number of the fuel pump relay) and the relays under the shelf by the cooling fan. Grab the fuel pump if it looks clean. High mile cars often have a bunch of new replacement parts before the owner gave up. Suspension parts? Lower control arms if they look newish. If you go after the control arms how about the front struts (and the trunk struts). Brake parts? I wouldn't bother with aftermarket calipers, but ATE's if they aren't leaking can save you some money. Rebuild kits are available for the ATE calipers. Fun. Good luck!

Thanks, I got some stuff at my local yard. i've been busy, just kinda dove right in. I'll just post some more pics. I swapped the igntion switch and got it to start. Still no gauges. but it was running.

So I quit looking at it and just dove in

The wiring harness is pretty beat up, might explain the dead gauges. I deleted the SAS bs, and have just been cleaning as I go. Spent a total of 25 dollars and got a bunch of stuff at my local yard.
sadly for 14.99 this is the best my yard had available for a front door panel though.
ill keep yall updated.
Also if anyone has a lead on a 850 SMF that would be cool.

I've been slowly picking away at my Volvo project. Transmission is out. Frozen slave cylinder is the diagnostics. Kind of tired to narrate tonight, but pictures say a thousand words.

Dust shield and ABS sensor bolt both broke of course

out

Frozen Slave

Really frozen

Sword in the stone: volvo edition

Took all day

Guess its time to make decisions. My parts list is getting pretty long.
Also this. cracked door hingle sheet metal on the door? any tips? or just pull off and weld? Bad pic, is the best i can fit in the door jamb.

Thanks

So Christmas Blah Blah. Did some computer upgrades and whatnot. Back on the desktop. Figured I'd show some updates.

Took the Pressure plate and flywheel off before Christmas break

Clutch looks new..ish. no money build=reinstalled

Stripped the subframe and threw a coat of spray-paint over it.
Solid subframe mounts. $2 roofing polyurethane and a caulk gun.
I got to this point and went on Christmas break to Chicago to see my grandma. Went to the junkyard up there and got a couple things.

leather wrapped wheel

Egg crate
When I got back in town first thing to go on was the eggcrate.

Looks better.

Pulled the seats and went over the interior with a Bissell shampooer. this was a work in progress photo.

After. still dirty to me. Also a junkyard find, black center console lid.

Rear seats still showing dirt, but Ill shampoo it harder when its triple digits in the summer. AKA good enough for now. This took me 3 days straight.

"fan mod"

"fan mod" gained like 2"~

One step forward two steps back. Story of my life.

Progress must go on. Thermostatic air control delete. I live in the south average temp is like 70. I wont miss it. emissions exempt in North Carolina.

TAC delete. the less vacuum hoses the better.

more paint.

Broke the nipple off the intake manifold for the fuel vapor purge. YAY

Current state of my garage. Just waiting on the mail man honestly. I'm still under a grand total EASY. $650? Labor? HA!
Transaxle wire brushed. Going to spray paint the power steering lines sitting there as well
Its coming along. I'm in no hurry. I enjoy the spray-paint buzz
jkjk
I promise to be better about taking pictures, its tricky when your hands are covered in grease lol.

Whatever you do don't repaint the dings, dimples and small dents as the color is beautiful and is still in exceptional shape. By far the best dent removal guy on Youtube. A true craftsman and amazing results. I've painted an entire vehicle before and it's a ton of work and almost impossible to match existing paint.
I prefer to live with a little blemish rather than the slightest hue difference from a repaint.
