The solenoid should click when the switch is activated.

The only way to check the relay is to replace it with a known good one of the same type. Sometimes when a relay is starting to play up giving it a flick with your finger can make it work. You should be able to hear it click when the switch is activated.

If you should need to test the solenoid this is how:

Thanks for the help Bill

This morning I gave the OD relay a flick, threw a fuse in and lo and behold it didn't pop! Then, I looked down at the heated seats, and the drivers side switch was on but the light was off. As soon as I turned the darn switch off, the fuse popped. Could this be a faulty relay, or do you think that the switch or wiring to the switch could be faulty? Or perhaps a combination of the two.

Thanks for the guidance
Darrell

the fuse popped
Which fuse?

If it is for the heated seats then you probably have a bad switch or a bad connection at the switch. You can try using the switch for the passenger seat on the driver's seat to see if that works.

Okay, I've found the problem. It was the drivers side switch. The only time the fuse wouldn't pop is if I started the car with the drivers side switch on. Pulled the switch, and all is good. It was the #14 OD fuse that was blowing but it seems as if the heated seats on a different circuit were taking it out.

Hopefully the problem has been solved :)

Thanks for all the help guys,
Derail

Electrical gremlins make up the rules as they go along.

Good to know you have solved the problem.
