Beating a dead horse, V60 oil consumption......

So, I read back over some earlier oil consumption post and wondered if there is anything new on this topic? We have 2- 2015 V60s that have been diagnosed by Volvo as having failed piston rings. All the upgrades and service were done before the diagnoses. We jumped through all their hoops BEFORE reaching out to Volvo American to ask for some help. We got none, only a curt reply that they would not help us. The cars are driveable, but they consume oil like gas. I am not willing to spend $6,000 to rebuild them at Volvo. So, is there any magic snake oil additive to save the engines or are we doomed to continuing decline and failure? One uses a quart about every 300 miles and the other every 600 miles. I'm also wondering if having our independent mechanic replace the rings would be sufficient to fix the problem or would pistons and a complete rebuild be needed?

If you feel Volvo should fix both, then go up the food chain! It took me years to finally get Volvo of NA to agree to just remove the phone/Oncall subscription message only from my 2004 S80 T6. It is the only time I felt Volvo was going to do something half-assed! I either wanted all the equipment removed, or just stop the messages period! It was battle till the end... I won in 2016. So keep being the squeaky wheel!!! June

I finally got a email address for upper management. I sent him photos of my car's equipment, chewed him a new one about how many years I had to push the button to exit the message to be aggravated five minutes later again which was dangerous in my opinion, and I expected him to call me to further discuss the situation! He sure called me and we spoke for a good half hour. In the end he contacted my dealer with the authorization to do it my way! He really didn't want to hear from me again I suspect! It was easier to appease me. June

Both are me. Unfortunately I have gone through several phones since 2016. I started with a email link on the website. Then as each level could not help I asked to be contacted by their supervisor. Eventually I hit the top executive and he was who I talked on the phone with. All steps up were emai only contact. Include photos of the car's condition inside and out. As well as service mileage on oil changes. I found photos of my impeccable care got me to him faster. June

In the videos that I have watched about this, the real fix is both pistons and rings because your current pistons can only accept the flawed rings.

I forgot to ask , in that generation V60, do you have the 4 or 5 cylinder I can't remember when V60 stopped using the 5 cylinder.
I believe the video shows new pistons required for the 4 cylinders that had this issue. I honestly don't know if the 5 cylinders required new pistons as well
