Just changed my fuel pump this evening - it had the grace to fail while the car was in the garage, so that was a plus, I guess.
Thanks for the close-ups of the connectors - I had to smack the high pressure one a couple of times to get it back on, but seems that nothing is leaking. If it is, I know how to fix that was well, now.

Bringing back this zombie thread since it seems to be the most comprehensive one anywhere online on the subject.
I will preface this by saying that I am new to this level of DIY car repair since most of my experience was just basic tune up stuff and fluid changes. So this is the first time I've pulled out a fuel pump.
As expected I also had some damage to the fuel line connector when I pulled the pump. I thought I was careful but as I moved the lines to get at the retention ring the bottom cap just came off in my hand. The internals of the connector seem to be okay so my question is if I can just replace the rubber sleeve on the connector and reattach it or am S.O.L. and have to change the whole line.
(Also an additional question. What is the composite sealer on top of the fuel pump made of? It was so brittle it just flaked off like hard wax when I moved the wires)
The line seals with internal orings, but the line is held with fingers that retract when you slide the black case back. If you reinsert it and feel resistance to hand pressure, leak test it and you should be good.
Epoxy will fill in that sealer
