I am going to do an ATF drain and fill. Car is sitting at 225,000 miles.
Toyota Type IV is $35.81 for a 6 quart pack. We all know what the Volvo ATF costs.
Am I safe with Toyota Type iV with the '05 V70? Earlier versions of the V70 are ok with Type IV as far as I can tell, but I believe the transmission model changed around 2005 give or take. Not sure if the fluid did to.
Any advice would be fantastic.

The Toyota should work. I'm on my 4th case of Havoline however. Used it to flush 3 transmissions on 3 different makes. One is an 03 S80 T6. Excellent product as is with Chevron gas.

4 liters jug 1161640 is $55.49 shipped free at FCP Euro and $41.89 + shipping at Tasca Parts, enough for 1 drain&fill. Volvo ATF is the best, it has a better antifriction pack.
T-IV is ok, but I would add a bottle of Lubegard, which brings its price to Volvo ATF.
