So thankfully, it passed the glove test, would’ve sucked it in completely if I didn’t have a few big rubber bands on there. Now I’m left with a brand new code, misfire in cylinder 5. Which I expected after removing the spark plugs, 5 was clean.

Now to narrow down between coil and injector. Wish me luck!

Swapped #5 for a junkyard coil and it runs much better with no codes. I’ll be chasing oil leaks till the cows come home.

Thanks all very much for all your help through this!!

Was the removed and replaced coil Bosch or other brand? What brand are the other coils? The Bosch coils are known to be more reliable than others. If you have another spare coil, swap it with your coils to see any are bad.
If you have not heard already, IPD and FCP Euro are good sources for Volvo parts, Genuine and other brands. FCP has lifetime free replacement policy.
Search this forum for info on getting all your maintenance up to date if needed. This is called Stage 1.

Sounds like you have made progress. I hope this is not your only vehicle.

I replaced with a Volvo coil from the junkyard. Thanks for the tips, those sites look great. I’m luckily I have other vehicles. I was really hoping that pcv was the cause of my oil problem, I’m afraid it isn’t. I’m gonna have to start a new oil leak post after searching all the others. Thanks again all.

If no oil leak is obvious looking at the engine, double check your front cam seals. At 20 years old, if they haven't been replaced, they will need to be.

Strangest thing, I have a couple of leaks. I’ve down the pcv test (thanks volvolugnut) and confirmed that I have good vacuum. The biggest leak is from the rear of the engine that seems to be coming from the cylinder head and the engine.
The other leak that wreaked havoc especially is strangely coming from the bolt on top of the cylinder head! I replaced my oil cap gasket and that didn’t help, I can literally see it leaking from this bolt.
Any ideas are appreciated and please let me know if I need to start a new thread somewhere else (new the forum and want to respect the rules).

Thanks all!
I’ve attached pics to show those locations.

Hey again , folks.

Here are better pics with location.

It’s the bolt on the pass side of engine, the second it warms up it begins to pool.

Any thoughts on permanent fix?

Is pulling that bolt and rtving it to stop the leak a decent idea?

Thanks,
