2003 s60/80 help

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

2003 s60/80 help

Post by abscate »

“I’ve dug through the forums and for some reason, I cannot find a good write up for doing the timing on a 2003 S60/80. My buddy is asking for a hand and thought I would start here. Any help is appreciated.”

Chad LEE looking for help,on timing belt procedure. Is this identical to P2 platform?

If it is the 2.5T they are the same engine. If it is the 2.9 or 2.9T, it is pretty much the same - Volvo timing with VVT flavors.

If you can post the VIN number we can figure out which engine it has.
B5254T2 is the only engine common to both 2003 S60 & 2003 S80.
B5254T2 is the only 5 cylinder installed in a AME 2003 S80.

Since I have a 2003 S80 T6 I assumed it was the 2.5T as I don't recall any P2 S60 let alone a 2003 with the 6 or T6 motor.

S60 P2: 2000–2009.
V/XC70 P2: 2000–2007.
S80 P2: 1998–2006.
XC90 P2: 2002–2016

The P2 S80 T6 was produced from 1998 to 2006. It used the exact same drivetrain as the XC90 T6. 2.9L six cylinder, twin turbo and the GM 4T65 AWD transmission. Some of the European S80 T6 got the manual 6-speed Volvo M65 transmission. Which was designed from scratch for the S80 T6. Because no existing manual gearbox would fit in the engine bay with the six-cylinder engine.

My 2004 S60R with the V8 conversion is a P2. That is why a subframe from a 2002–2016 P2 XC90 bolts right up.
