squeel under hood

Post by gary2021 »

After driving, noted a squeel under the hood. Not real loud. All fluids fine. After cooling off, started and ran fine. No squeel. All belts appear to be in good condition. There was no indicator of overheating. The sound was not very noticable in the car. From outside the car it was noticable.

How old are your idler pulleys? They can get old and before they die make noise. If they fail, they can take out your belts and do major damage when the valves hit pistons.

Most likely the horses under the hood seem to be unhappy at times when you hear the squeal.

I suggest you also check your PCV system, it's probably a failing diaphragm causing excessive vacuum in the crankcase
This is a known premature failure on our 4-cyl. engines.

Hope this helps :D
Example of Precision: Measure with a Micrometer, mark it with Chalk, and then cut it with an Axe.
Disclaimer: We (very) seldom do that
