Are you sure you didn’t just over articulate the CV joint? It might be quiet if you get it back in place.

Please post up the part numbers on the inner engine mount so we can document the part change, and VIN BREAK

Argh, oooof. Here is some info from Volvowebstore

Do you think it's possible it didn't cause any real damage?
And if it's the joint I couldn't hurt the transmission, the joint would give first correct?
How would I check to see if it's over extended, pull the boot back?

Man it's stressful, but I know fixable..
Would you be willing to do a phone call at some point?
I totally understand if you keep it just in the forum, that definitely works, I just think it could describe it better on the phone.
I know it's a lot to ask so please. Whatever you are cool with is cool with me.

That looks awesome. What a pain, but you got there.

Have you had a chance to look at the axle yet?

Is the part number that worked for my car. 1999 GLT FWD Automatic
Engine: B5254T
I was originally prescribed 9180961

It's an odd thing, often when I give my VIN for parts I get a person asking if my car is AWD.
I know this engine was used in the AWD of this year is this just a Volvo part number issue with 1999's?

Thanks very much Neil!

Yeah, it's like a piece of sculpture in there now.
I haven't been able to look at the axle yet due to working conditions.
Apt parking lot doesn't allow the car to be on jack stands overnight and as we know with these cars
removing fasteners can sometimes take a day or two alone.
I think I might have to have a shop do this part unless there is another way to determine or 're-seat' the axle
that you know of?

Quick question about replacing Subframe bushings.
Currently looking at Genuine Volvo bushings-
Both OE Volvo but one type is the ones used first on the XC90 - HD models which are the perfect fitment for P80 cars.
I guess it's just a stiffer compound, a poly/rubber blend.
I am wondering what the pros and cons might be.
HD- Longer lasting but slightly more vibration at idle?

There is some funkiness in the 1999s part structure

Parking brake shoes

Same from -1998

In 1999, FWD use P80s shoes, and AWD use P2 shoes

But they both use P80 hardware to mount

Pm you my phone if you get stuck

You need to arm yourself with VIN AND engine number when buying parts

Yeah man,
I don't know if the guy at the dealership just made a mistake, he is normally an ace, but I gave him VIN And Serial.
Now that the right bracket is on and the mount is secure, do you think it would be safe to try and drive it just to test if the cv is still over articulated - or 'crunching' ?
I am wondering if the engine bracket and mount being held on with a bolt each respectively could have contributed to the noise/feel?
Is there a chance I could make the situation worse or is it what it is at this point and a trip around the block won't make it worse?
Or leave it alone until I can get it looked at.

Good morning.

Ok so- with the new engine mount bracket and lower pad engine mount securely on, I decided to go for a short test drive.
Crunching in between gear and when turning is gone.
But.
There is definitely significant vibration when the car is in gear- fwd or reverse and I have the brake on. I don't notice a thing when driving up to 40mph on my short drive down the road but it is there at idle in gear.
What do make of that, seems to be leaning towards over articulation?
This is a link to a recording of the car in gear with e-brake on. Apologies for the lack of clear sound and obviously bad camera work
but the vibration is especially there at the end. I am sure you will recognize it.

Next steps would be pulling the axle?

Thanks!
