1994 Volvo 850 replace alternator - what tools, and how?

Post by loveMy850 »

Hi guys, Im replacing my alternator on my 1994 Volvo 850. I'm wondering how I go about removing the Pulley Nut and installing it on my new alternator. I'll have the old one out. What tools is this going to take and my new Bosch alternator says that the pulley nut torque is CRITICAL. So hear I'll sit waiting for your reply Thank you....

However my alternator is a Bosch, and it's a 22mm bolt, shouldn't it be tighter than 29 lbs. I'm at odds with this I found on one 20mm the torque was 45lbs. 🤔
