You guys are a hoot. I could go on with the American comments however I must admit I’m actually a dual citizen. My Canadian side had my American side grandmother believe that we actually didn’t have running water/plumbing here. They got quite the kick out of that running joke.

It’s such a cool country , literally and figuratively. As a kid we would ride bikes across the Lewiston Queenston bridge with no IDs, play all day in Brock’s Monument park, because you didn’t have drug dealers , pimps, and pedos like Niagara Falls

There are places north of where you are that don't have Water mains. Because a Water main buried in Permafrost would freeze permanently. That is probably the source of the myth.

There’s no health care because there’s no running water, too. That’s why they all come to the States for medicine, it’s the water.

The last several times I went to Canada was after 9/11. Getting into Canada was no problem. Coming home, our border guards where assholes and idiots. Sometimes I would go out of my way to avoid crossing at Windsor/Detroit where it was real bad.

Google the old Canadian TV public service ad "Waking up Canadian" for a few laughs. Related to a change in citizenship laws many years ago. Showed Canadians could poke fun at themselves in a good natured way. U S. Gov't would never sanction such an ad (humor based).

During WWII my Dad had a pen-pal in mid-West US. They were encouraged to do this to try to bring the US and UK closer for the war effort. My Dad's first letter from the US questioned if the Scots still lived in caves? Do you have electricity and telephones.....!

I was working in California about 30 years ago and was asked to sign a protest against some tax or other. I suggested that my colleagues and I probably didn't qualify. When asked I said we were from Scotland. The young lady then said," Is that out of state?"
I think she got the clue when 5 large Scots guys started laughing our heads off!
