Door lock assembly repair

Happy Thanksgiving/ Holidays everyone!

Has anyone ever repaired/improved the door lock assembly on a P80 Chassis Volvo?

Mine is starting to stick, and worse, not locking over the striker.

EXAMPLE: I open the door, and as I'm sitting in my seat, getting ready to go, and close my door, the door closes, rebounds off of the door frame, and just..... Doesn't stay closed. After a follow up door closing, the latch catches the striker, and all is fine.

I don't want to spend $300 this close to the holidays. Has anyone repaired one of these? Any help will be appreciated!

Sounds like the Door hinges are getting worn and need some adjustment or replaced?

Try a shot of silicone spray up into the door striker pivot.

A 3.14 second blast using the red plastic wand.

They can break , so a junkyard solution will be 1/10 new cost

That's an oddly specific spray time.

Well we know he does get a bit pi-eyed over Nautic Blue 99V70's.
But I think I'm straying from the OP's lock problem. Unless it's jammed up due to...... :wink:

I am going to say some lubricant and a slight realignment may fix the latch. The striker plate on many cars are adjustable if you loosen the mounting screws to the door frame. Only a very small adjustment will be needed. Try moving down first, since the door has likely sagged. Mark the original position closely BEFORE you loosen the screws.
