Yep. Can't remember if it came from FCP or IPD.

Abscate, can you move some of the pics / diagrams from the other sticky over to this thread ?

Also I came across this outfit either on this forum or another...

I'm planning on removing the coolant pipe again tomorrow. Will go in search of o-ring then.

Worst case scenario..
I have thought about the possibility of having to remove the water pump. If that ends up being the only way to do this then I'll make a wooden ( my go to material )rod about 3- 4" long and the same diameter as the coolant pipe. I'll feed that in from the pump side till it gets to the recess. Then from the block side, push the o-ring in its recess while pushing the dowel through to hold o-ring in place. I should then be able to take the coolant pipe and use it to push the dowel back out while allowing the pipe to slide into the o-ring.

So I talked to one of my whiteblock expert friends, and he tells me that the o-ring should seal on the ID against the pipe, not the block. It's supposed to fit loosely in that groove, which is how it gets pinched. The only way to do this is to pull the water pump and hold it in place as you insert the pipe.

^ Please tell me this can be done with the engine in place....

And looking at the pic, it looks like the cut end on the new pipe is slightly peened or tapered as opposed to how mine was just cut.
That would certainly help.

It can be done with the engine in. Just a little tighter access, as you would expect!

Sveedy wrote: 03 Feb 2022, 14:10 ^ That is exactly it. So left hand on pipe, right hand index finger in water pump side trying to push o-ring around into place. If my hand would fit around the timing cover.. And it would all have to be done by feel.

But your idea of stretching the o-ring before install is golden ! I could put it on the pipe, heat the pipe with a heat gun and let it cool a few times, then try installing it, maybe while it's still a little warm. Lots of Vaseline and it just might work.
If it does, I owe you a beer !
I would not use Vaseline. I would use silicone grease. Vaseline will likely make the rubber swell, which would be great for sealing, but no so great for getting it put together as it will swell on the outside and the inside diameters.

You'll know it's lined up because of the additional pipe going to the cylinder head, with the oval gasket. That needs to line up, so that's an easy way to tell that it's all the way seated.
[/quote]

But not that it's seated right. As it is now, everything fit and bolted up just fine. But it still drips...

Zooming in on that pic of the new style of pipe, it is apparent that the end in question is way tapered now. As said before, that makes a lot of sense.
Me thinks that they realized the problem and tried that approach to fix it. Must not affect coolant flow at that point in the system.
Good enough for them, good enough for me.
I'm going to try the same thing.
