How do I take the valves out of the head?

I am trying to replace the valve stem seals, and I might lap the valves. I have the head off since I am replacing the head gasket. How do I remove the valves? Would this tool: https://www.harborfreight.com/universal ... 60335.html

That HF tool will not help you.

People use the Schley 91400B to do this in the car (or knock-off equivalent) but you can presumably also use a clamp compressor out of the car - I am not familiar with that but it is done in the video from jones there. From the 1000 reviews, important tip.

"This tool worked perfectly to compress the valve springs on the heads from a 5.3 V8. I was hesitant to purchase this tool after other reviewers said that it would bend or spread open, but I had no issues. I did use a socket and hammer to tap each of the retainers before trying to compress the springs, if I had not done that, it would have taken much more force to break the retainer free from the keepers and may have resulted in the tool bending. It took a while for me to remove the springs from the first head, but once I got the hang of it, it only took about 10 minutes to remove all 8 springs from the second head."
