Sent my Service Advisor a text for the number. The 1st tow was at least 25 miles if not 35 miles and Bill for tow was $0.00. Possibly my dealership ate the difference?

He just texted back 1-800-638-6586. That was fast! June
Oh ok thanks. Maybe it changed over the years? How long ago did you have your last free tow?
Or maybe they dont worry about a certain amount of extra mileage unless it gets really high like 150 miles.

I would think though that they make up for the tow service costs by way of parts markup. Genuine Volvo parts seem to be higher priced than run of the mill parts, although they may be better in the long run after all.

I also think that at the time of the problem a free tow would seem like a blessing anyway.
January 2022 and car is still at Volvo. June
Wow what are they doing to it, taking it apart and putting it back together again? ha ha.

But it's strange now i have two neighbors within 2 houses from me have cars at dealers and no idea when they will be done with either car. One neighbor has a Mustang at a Ford dealer, alnother a Hyundai that got recalled because of motor that can catch fire and decelerates randomly from 60 to 30 mph with no apparent reason and is considered dangerous. The car ahs to get an entire new motor. I woindered if she can get some payment because they are keeping the car for so long already and no loaner.

Is it typical for dealers to keep cars for a long time?
Also, do Volvo dealers give loaners?

Tnanks.
I’ve been driving a Volvo long before anyone ever paid me to drive one.
That's probably because I've been driving one since 2015 and nobody has offered to pay me yet.

New buyers and CPO certainly get loaners, I don’t think they will give me one for my scruffed up 99.

I bet in this climate , service loaners are rare, too.

A buddy of mine has had his work F-150 at the dealer for close to 3 months now. It is a 2018 with about 115,000km on it with the Ecotec motor. They have discovered a flaw with this engine in that it doesn't like to be idled. He has another older one that has had the exact same issue. In both cases the dealers can't get parts to fix it due to supply issues and many with the same problem. He owns a security company and does around 40,000 miles/year or more. He will not be buying a 6 cylinder F-150 again. Now looking at a Toyota Tundra. Insult is that the dealer says he has to pay for the problem as it is out of warranty and it will cost upward of $5000 CDN to fix! Due to truck shortages he has bought a used Dodge Ram just so he can work!

The supply issues are very widespread and yet erratic/random. I have a colleague that works in supply management and says it is a perpetual game of whack-a-mole. One part is in short supply, gets fixed then another part becomes an issue. He said it can be materials, labor, high demand...we live in crazy times.

That's a great idea. I took a photo of the page with the number but adding it to contacts is by far the better method.
I'll cross out AAA and put this in it's place (ha ha ha).

Still getting letters from AAA to renew. I might send a letter explaining why i dont want to renew.
I do feel a little bad though because before they gave me a reimbursement for a tow (after several calls) i told them i would renew if i got the money. But since then i realized that it is just not practical in this area because the number of tow affilliations they must have must be very small around here. That means they get overwhelmed in times that you need them most. Just not practical.

The fire that can result. She said it could actually kill the driver.
I dont know the year or the model i'll have to ask her so i can look into this recall also.
I think for recalls the law favors the company that made the vehicle so it's hard to get reimbursed for any long term loss of transportation. Unfortunately her work is far enough away to cost asbout $20 USD each way with Uber.

There seems to have never been a better time to have an extra car around. I've typically avoided that but with four drivers in the household it seems every other week there is something where it is nice having an extra vehicle. For sure Uber and rentals can add up.

Schedule your appointment for service and request a loaner. It's for any owner of any Volvo. Free alternative transportation is for everyone. It's one of Volvo's guarantees to the customer. There are several, and all are for every Volvo serviced at the dealership. June
