LED headlight conversion kit ?

Post by Mikele82 »

Any recommendations on LED conversion kits?
I see there is pre ballast options (directly to 12v plug) and regular plug to ballast output.
Also, any experience with the fitting in the headlight casing and cap?

It's hard because the headlights were never designed with LED's in mind. There is a metal or plastic hat on the top of where the bulb would be that is blocking the very tip of the bulb, even restricting size, and I believe most LED's have their lights on the tip, so you'd have a situation where your light will bounce around all over; including the fact that the shape of the headlight are only meant for incandescent. And then you have to remember that the Ford wiring will always have electrical gremlins, so eventually your H11 sockets will melt.

So no, I wouldn't recommend any LED's, but if you're still insistent I'm sure others will chip in.

I have a P3 volvo not a P2 but I did upgrade to LED Headlights to GTR Ultra LED 2.0 bulbs

I did have to mount the Driver Module to the inside of my Headlight housing

These Bulbs completely transformed my headlight
From -> barely acceptable
To -> equivalent to factory HID headlight

Good luck

I just tried LED bulb replacements and got a bulb failure warning (08 S60), so you'll need to account for that if you don't want to clear the code each key cycle.
