06 XC70 Rear light questions - LED conversion? Topic is solved

We are getting an intermittent bulb out message for the rear stop lights. We had an issue with a failed lamp a few years ago at which time I found that the bulb and lens assembly was melted on one of the bulbs. I believe this is an on-going issue with the plastics melting on P@ wagon rear lights.

I see one of the housings is now NLA, but while on a Volvo parts website I say something that is a circuit board that calls it an LED conversion or something like that. PPS sells a board as do Volvo. Is this part of the existing light units or is it a retrofit by Volvo to overcome this issue that they forgot to tell owners about?

Existing part not a conversion. Currently your car (and any 05-07 P2 wagon) already has these in the lowest position of the tail light.

Thanks Eric. Only just saw your answer here. The dealer parts guy followed up and said it was the rear marker lights? I took a look at the car again and as the garage was darker, I saw a reflection at the bottom of the lower taillight unit with what looked like 4 small bulbs. I just pulled those '05-07' jewel taillights and I took a look at one of those. I Guess the size of it and the price threw me. It is maybe 50 x 25mm in size and held in by 2 tiny T10? screws behind that aluminum plate in the picture. I was expecting something closer to the lower light section for that crazy price. Now I just have to check if ours work!

The part is hidden behind that little grey metal piece at the lower left of the light unit.
