Re: What did you do to your P2 Volvo today?
Just got the car back from the specialist shop–new PCV breather box and hoses, and new timing belt and cam/crank seals. Labor from my shop for the PCV job actually wasn't bad, they only charged for 3.5 hours. Seals on the other hand...7 hours. But glad it was them and not me.

Today I took the 05 XC70 to the dealer for the airbag recall notice I received recently. They took the car in at 7:30AM and called me around 2:30PM for pickup.
To do this repair they replaced the entire horn pad on the steering wheel, which fixed a something that has been bugging me for years: the cracked plastic Volvo logo on the horn pad. The new horn pad has a new logo! So everything looks great now. They also washed the car.

Dent pulling day on the 2002. Started on this a while back with suction cups, helped a lot, trying to get to better with glue and pulls.

I still haven’t figured out how the heavier P2s get better highway mileage than P80s. Aero has some influence but not the 20% type bump I see.
My NA P2 will roll 33-35 mpg at 65 mph. Abby suddenly likes her with gas at 4.25per gallon

65 mph seems to be the sweet spot on mine. Seems to drop off above that. As low as the S60 sits it seems pretty sensitive to wind, but essentially is like speeding up when in a headwind.
These Volvos seem to be the only ones in my fleet where avg mpg on the dash is ~4 mpg low (shows 26, get 30), my other cars are 1-2 mpg optimistic.

Wifes xc70 - mounted summer tires, installed a couple of rivets that were missing in the rear fender liner
My s60- removed and cleaned ( I guess? ) the little charcoal filter thing on the fuel filler neck. Whenever I fill up at Costco until the click, it seems to shoot some gas out the filler at me. Many anecdotal posts say spiders love that charcoal filter and clog it up causing an obstruction for air to exit. My inspection didn’t find any spiderwebs, just a little bit of soot. I cleaned it with a pick tool and put my mouth on it and blew with force of a billion blue whale’s blowholes. I don’t expect it to fix my problem and it was a PITA till I decided I shall remove the wheel and fender liner.
Inspected my rear shocks. Holy cow the passenger side is bad. No wonder I have little control after hitting huge bumps. Ordered a new set and mounts and swaybar endlinks from RockAuto. Sprayed and wirebrushed exposted studs and nuts on swaybar endlinks, and on the lower shock bolt.

Much of my time during the job is spent hauling things up and down the stairs to the basement or in and out of the storage shed, or running back downstairs when I realize I need something else,or taking a break from standing out in the sun,or using flashlights or work lamps when it gets dark.

Have you tried Parts Avatar for parts? Free shipping over $75. While some of the choices may be limited, on recent price comparisons when I factored in shipping to Calgary the parts were the same or more.

I lent my V70X/C to my Doctor. Someone in a truck decided that his Mini Cooper was too long and rear ended him on the freeway. The Mini is now much shorter, but my Doctor did get whacked pretty well. We decided that he would get put into a truck or a Volvo for his own protection (We all love our Doctor!). My V70 was just sitting around looking for a ride, so the Dr. and the V70 are now best friends until he gets a new vehicle.

I rolled myP2 into Brooklyn ftom Port Jeff in fast moving urban traffic, marveling at the smart car defying Darwin selection, most of the way. How anyone can drive one of those thimbles at 65 mph, in traffic, I don’t know.
