Driver door module not responding, no part number stickers on module to replace

Post by Cruciform »

I have an 04 V70 5speed that I'm fixing up and I bought it knowing the module on the drivers side wasn't working, I went to obtain a replacement, but the stickers that have the group and part numbers are missing. I tried a few junkyard modules to no avail, but this could get expensive.
With my scanner, i see in my CEM that there is no communication with the DDM. Everything else is communicating. I have no functions on my driver side door module whatsoever, with both the one that came with the car, as well as the ones i bought as an attempt to repair.

What do i do here?

I am sorry to be dim, but what do you mean by the door module? Do you mean the door actuator which is part of the door lock mechanism? Can you post a picture of the junkyard part you bought?

If it is the door actuator I am not sure with the P2 models if they have the 2 stage or one stage options in North America as they do with the older P80 models. They actually have a third option with a deadbolt but don't believe that was sold in NA.

I know it will be hard to figure out if the driver's door lock is not working to figure out which you have. Single stage all doors open when you press Open on the fob. 2 stage the driver's door opens on first press and the rest on the 2nd press.

Check fuses 27 and 35 in the passenger compartment (side of dash).

It's the master switch, that controls the windows, locks, mirrors etc.on the drivers door. To replace, one needs to match the coded number thats on a sticker. Mine has no sticker, so I can't match it up to a replacement.

Have you taken a look at the door jamb connector (well actually on the door frame) to verify it’s making a good clean connection? It may be a tough one to disconnect/reconnect.

Also, not that it would be the case in your car, on our ‘05 S80 the LH dash fuse panel was wired in error and didn’t match the labeling. The LH door was powered by the fuse labeled RH Door, and vice versa. Monday morning at the wire fab shop I guess.

Chassis are the last six digits of your VIN. So that leads me to think your part number is 30658146. You could verify with a dealership parts counter if you want, I've done it before ... "Hey can you give me a quote on the drivers door module for my car?" then give your VIN, they always end up with the same answer I've found for myself (try shopping for a steering rack for your car- good luck!). Also another tool I use are dealership parts websites (I use Toronto).

Also for purely anecdotal purposes, I had my passenger door module fail the exact same way as yours. I performed all of the above good suggestions, and none of them worked. The module was simply kaput and no amount of electrical cleaner could bring it back to life. Relays have a rated number of cycles and likely all of ours are WAY outside of the intended cycles they were guaranteed for. I used car-part.com to find a matching one for myself. eBay is good too, and another option I don't use because I'm not in the states is Erie Vovo, I've heard those guys are whizzes with part numbers and offer a great warranty. Good luck.
