Almost got stranded at the beautiful Cutter Arboretum on Long Island
Coming out, the key goes to position I then sticks.
I finally fight it to pos Ii, car starts but then the starter stays engaged. I quickly get key back to ii.
Drive home ok. It feels like the tumblers are badly sticking. No warning at all, key has been fine try low use key, better, but still not right.
Looks like a visit to dealer for tumbler assembly. Yeah. I wonder if I can remove trim and use a screwdriver on the electrical part of the switch like a p80? Low crime area.

Hmmm
The 1999-2009 all use the same black white electrical switch
8650054
The way this thing broke, I think it’s more likely the problem is in the electrical part than the tumblers. I’ll try pulling the electrical part to confirm. Volvo points, etc the lock cylinder, though.

And the verdict is the electrical part of the switch is not the resistance, so new lock cylinder is needed
The under trim T25s are slightly different lengths, short one goes to the rear most hole
Otherwise same as p80, three T25s and then unsnap bottom from top. The rubber gaskets for the stalks have slots and only one orientation
