On my 2000 V70XC Im getting the "Disc" message on the computer screen on the dash I believe it was said to switch the knob for the copmputer next to the reset button. This only works temporarily then it comes back? Any help? what does this mean? thanks Bill

It means "DISConnected" Your instrument cluster is not communicating with the ECU (main computer).

Well, I have seen it too but it usually goes away. The likelihood that your ECU has crapped out is pretty slim...I would think it's an electrical glitch. Unless you're real handy with taking the dash cover off and the instrument panel display out to clean connections I would let someone else (indy mechanic who's well versed with Volvo's or a dealer) deal with this one.

The DISC message you see in the trip computer display is indicative of the trip computer or INFO switch contacts being dirty or not making full contact. I had this issue when I had to desolder and reassemble the switch's circuit board to replace the lamp inside. In my case it was not making full contact.

You can operate the switch repeatedly to try to clean the contacts or replace the switch or even just live with the DISC message.
