Procedure for AT fluid EXCHANGE complete

Post by Eddystone »

I did a search at MVS for this but terminology is an issue.

I have a kit for exchanging (gentle flushing?) the AT fluid in my 940 where you let the engine pump the old ATF into a bucket while you refill it at the dipstick thereby getting new fluid into the torque converter. The ATF in my 1999 T5 is pretty cruddy, and while I don't want to do a POWER flush, I do want to get most of the crappy stuff out of there.

Is there a procedure for doing this somewhere in this forum?

Part of this question is which radiator fitting is the one where the ATF leaves the radiator on its way back to the transmission.

The ATF enters the radiator at the top fitting and returns to the trans at the bottom fitting. There is a size of “ standard PVC hardware store tubing that fits the pipe snugly enough to drain ATF without dripping , I’ll try to find it

Thanks! I have a graduated (in quarts) transparent milk container somewhere. I trip over it all the time but will probably be unable to find it now that I need it. Pretty sure I have some of that size vinyl hose.
