Volvo XC70 2000 Stalling in gear

hi, i have read countless posts that sound similar to my problem, but none are exactly what i am experiencing.

My Volvo xc70 2000 SE starts, idles, and revs normally. when i try to put it in drive or reverse, it will stall immediately. i am able to restart the car, but never able to put into gear without stalling.

the last day i drove it (which was also the first time i ever experienced an issue) it stalled at a red light, and i was able to shift into drive by revviing engine while simultaneously shifting into gear. (i had to repeat this process every time i came to a stop.)

the revving is no longer an effective workaround for the stalling issue.

that night, looking under the hood, i discovered my fresh air intake had become detatched from the turbo inlet, and that was promptly replaced. but the stalling persists.

i have since replaced the MAF sensor, and just put in a brand new throttle body from Xemodex..

any input would be very much appreciated..
the car has 165k miles on it, and has had virtually no issues since ive owned it.

Could this be ignition related?
If my ignition parts are well worn, sometimes the car will almost stall when put in D or R.

Track the entire path of the air intake looking for loose clamps or hoses that have Holes. Any leaks will cause this. Usually, you have to remove each piece , inspect,and replace, to find these faults. Simply looking , won’t suffice

Listening might though. If the leak is big you should be able to hear it.

i inspected all the hoses, i did not find any cracks or holes, though they are a bit crumbly? on the outer layer. i tightened all clamps and made sure everything was on where it out to be. any other suggestions going forward??

How good is the battery on this car? If the voltage is low they can not start or run terribly.

What happens if you disconnect the MAF and try to start/drive the car?

the battery is fairly new. i replaced it in the fall. it has no trouble starting at all and can stay in P or N forever if i let it

the MAF is brand new but i could try , ive got nothing else to go off of.

i was thinking of doing a transmission flush, or at the very least drain and fill.. though i have not experienced any other transmission symptoms. i am a little desperate. haha

What brand is the MAF? Volvo OE or Bosch?

it is bosch, i had purchased a volvo oem but it got stolen out of the trunk of by some vultures who broke in

(( the things people steal these days .
