odometer not working 850 turbo wagon

hello everyone, I am a new member my friends call me double mark. I live in Melbourne Australia. I have just purchased my first volvo, 94 850 gold turbo wagon. It was imported from Hong Kong by the previous owner.It has only 85ks on the odometer witch dosn't work. The previous owner informed me that the odometer has just stoped working, but after purchasing the vechicle I found an old service record which states it stoped about five years ago. Is there any way I can find out the true figure. any help would be greatly appreciated.

You should be able to read the mileage from the ECU .

where can you get that little gear that is broken?

I get mine from Jeff Caplan at www.odometergears.com. I always replace both the small gear and pod gear. I think you can also get them from FCP Groton and IPD.
