Part 1

Well, it looks like this one is on INA. This car is now at 260,000 miles and had a full timing belt , tensioner , idler, and water pump at 230k

Last week it ingested the timing belt and stopped while coasting down at 30 mph

I dig into it this morning and found the tensioner was on place,bolt tight and at correct torque, but the tensioner had fractured and fired pieces all over the engine. The belt had them walked off the cams , machined the cam cover. And then fouled up the engine.

Sadly, their damages are probably limited to the price of the part, not the cost of wrecking the majority of the engine. Some times it feels like we live on a razor's edge.

My first scatter brained thought is: how will you move the unique engine serial number sticker to a new timing belt cover?

The cover that came off Poor Old Blue looks identical.

I carefully cleaned mine, stuck the edges down and photographed it, then printed it on card and stuck it onto the cover after cleaning with pane wipe, and then finally stuck some 3M clear over it using a warm heat gun to help adhesion.

Sad I know to have a process for this..............!
