1998 AWD turbo exhaust front pipe removal

Dear expert Volvo owners, is there a trick to removing the front exhaust pipe in the awd models with turbo? Here is a link to a picture of the exhaust. I am refering to the bit marked 1-3 in the diagram.

I just don't seem to be able to manipulate it out over the tailshaft. Haynes just says remove it and doesn't say to take tailpipe or turbo off. Any other ideas. The car is on ramps...maybe it need to go higher??
