Swedespeed post, 2017, Boston. P80, 3800 lb load, trailer brakes. That boat must be a ways back on the trailer to not push down heavily on the hitch. (maybe he hasn't maintained his drum brakes...) -

"Yep, works great. Be careful if you have an automatic or AWD and will be towing anything heavy, long distances, and/or in hilly areas. These make fantastic tow vehicles when FWD and manual; just hook up whatever and go.....

Throw 3,800 lbs behind a M56H and the gearing finally makes sense, too! We've got a 2" ball on this setup. YES that trailer has brakes! You want brakes for towing anything significant. This one has drums and they suck; we will be getting 4 wheel stainless discs if we ever have to tow this trailer long distances again. 302s on the tow car would certainly be a good idea, too......but you should already have 302s anyway, sooooo.....

Bonus if you have Nivomats. The '99 doesn't have them, so, once my R is M66 swapped, it will likely take over as the tow vehicle for this setup.
