P80 Fuel pump availability including AWD

Post by scot850 »

Recently abscate had a thread on changing the fuel pump on Kat his 99 S70 AWD. In the thread he makes the point the fuel pump (complete) is now NLA from Volvo. Also the aftermarket availability is not out there either.

While tidying up in my garage (while trying to find a part! :D ) I found a fuel pump I didn't recall having. It is a Bosch unit and I have no idea where it came from or it's condition. Bosch part # 0 580 453 037.

Looking the part up it is confusing as to where it can be used. This Ebay listing has it working for all P80's??

https://www.ebay.com/itm/172668614215?e ... SwTBZgBtq1

That is weird as I thought AWD and FWD pumps were different. Another said it only fitted a 94 850??

The second issue is that the -98 had a lower fuel rail pressure than 99- (42psi v's 55-60psi) so is the same pump correct for both systems, let alone AWD?

Can anyone clarify what pump this is and what it should fit, and if all pumps work for all models?

Neil.

It sure won’t fit an AWD, the plumbing from pump to fuel interface is completely different.

The FWD pump insert can be piped in to connect to the fuel lines going up, the AWD cannot without major modification

That is what I thought and based on the malarky you had to go through to get a pump working on the Kat.

The fuel pump unit with housing fir AWD and R are obsolete And NLA

You can buy the insert fuel pump from the OE and fit it into your existing housing , it’s a 3.5/5 river job.
