Greetings all,
I have a very squeaky dash in my 98 S70. It is not the dash mounts though. At least I do not think so. All 4 mounts are tight in the dash & the dash itself seems tight. I am getting the noise in the trim where the wood trim around the stereo & climate control meets the dash. I am probably not explaining it well. I am attaching a photo the points out where the noise is coming from. All along both sides where the arrows points to. I can push on the dash itself & the noise does not change but when I push the wood trim, I can get it to stop. I do nothing that this trim can be removed without pulling the dash. Any thoughts on this? One final thing. This is an older photo. When I recently changed my head unit, the noise got a little better for a while but it is still bad. Thanks.

Maybe just a couple of squirts of silicone spray around the edge.
Try to learn life's bad lessons vicariously through others.

You can get that trim out but it’s not fun. I recently documented where all the fasteners are. You work through both the radio hole and the removed glovebox…

Much better than whole dash removal. Taking off the dash pad doesn’t help access the screws at all, just pull the glove box and radio.
Tape the torx screws to the driver to start them in the new console.
I think I skipped the bottom ones. I can post a clearer picture of the console out if that’s helpful

I think you may find you have broken dash mounts. The 2 lower mounts (one either side) by the door trim also fail not just the 4 main ones.
I would try the silicon spray with one of those plastic tube nozzles, but I think it will return.
I still have to repair my dashboard mounts and keep putting it off. Difference is I don't drive it now (the 'boss' does) and it only gets used in the summer. I will repair it before next driving season as it really annoys me but having done it 3 times for other cars I have kind of lost the enthusiasm for another!!
Good luck!
Neil.

Any pictures you have would be helpful. If you don't want to post them you can email them to [email protected]. Thanks.abscate wrote: ↑06 Nov 2022, 10:42 Much better than whole dash removal. Taking off the dash pad doesn’t help access the screws at all, just pull the glove box and radio.

I'd rather not have the Trox screws taped to me, but each to their own............!
