Rote memory. I don’t put the gas nozzle back into the pump until the cap is on. And focus on task. No phone use or Polish chit chat… Nigdi! Nigdi! * When fueling

On the hinge, the aftermarket ones do not have the hook to attach to the rubber/plastic wire that stops the fuel filler cap being left on the roof!

I've been walking out my front door enough times looking at varying aspects of my gas door to make my neighbors wonder what I'm doing, and have re-written this post numerous times. I'm guessing the S70 fuel door system works differently than the 850's. I noticed that the S70 fuel door doesn't have the finger hold protrusion that the 850 does. The door is completely flush with the body, so it would make sense that the door pops open a bit when released. That also means that the release is a release, and not a lock like on the 850, as the fuel door would be popping open with the door locks which would not make any sense. I did see the button on the door for the fuel door, but I'll need an assistant to help me with testing that. I may have just discovered the obvious, but the only working fuel door latch/lock I have experience with it the 850. Previous vehicles have either been broken, or old enough to not have a remote release.

I only noticed when looking at the S70 cap more carefully that it doesn't have the slot for hanging off the door, and likely had a tether at one time. The door does have the flat sheetmetal hook for the cap, However. I may get a different cap.

When I replaced the fuel cap on my 2001 V70, I drilled (?) a hole in the edge of the cap and attached the old cap retainer rubber with a small zip tie.

I tried a washer and the mounting screw, but it just got in the way.

Well, I've made some progress. I just rebuilt my second key fob. The first was in good enough shape that I could disassemble, clean and re-assemble, with a new battery. It does have a crack in the back, However, so I'll likely replace the case soon.

The second key fob was so cracked up it was held together with tape, and had chunks missing. I started looking for new cases, such as what I can find for my Chevy truck. Thankfully they're also available for the S70 from various sources. Reading Amazon reviews I was a bit skeptical of the quality, but the one I ordered seems fine. I'll order another one now since I know it's decent.

I received my second FOB case and got that put together. Sure is nice to have new working/looking key fobs. They work better than the ones for the 850.

Still waiting on the thermostat, but I've wedged some cardboard in front of the radiator to help the stuck thermostat a bit. It will heat up eventually in stop and go driving.

Later today I will be "installing" a snow brush, unfortunately.

I guess I haven't taken pictures since it doesn't look all that impressive with a messed up front end..... and the interior is dirty. Maybe I'll take a few tomorrow, when I'm hopefully changing the thermostat.... if it gets here before I have to leave for work.

Always good to have before and after photos! Sometimes it is also a kick in the pants when enthusiasm can wane to see how far you have come with the project!

Here's the hinge, doesn't sound like it's the issue, and a reminder, avoid most stuff ProPartsSweden and all things URO

This could be closer to what you described,

There is a manual release in the trunk, but I dunno about that because I only have wagons, see Roberts vid below.
Or the motor itself could be suspect. If ambient noise is low enough, you should hear a couple clicks when you work the switch in the door.
I have used junkyard motors with good luck; looks like the solenoid is NLA from Mother,
