failing alternator or belt?

Alternator arrived -- I have a tensioner that has what looks like a 14MM bolt on the pulley. I can't see the torx fitting - maybe I have a different type? I saw a vid where the guy used a socket on the pulley bolt to release tension, but is this OK, and how would I get the belt back on? Maybe there is a T45... I can't find a picture of the type tensioner I have.

Meanwhile, the Amazon delivery guy ran the truck off my driveway, and is stuck, so I can't go anywhere until he gets towed out..

T45 is on casting. You can use a socket/wrench on the hex bolt as well.

Thanks - Where is the t45 hole on the casting? I can't see it.. I'll use the 14 to loosen the tension but I'm concerned with loosening the bolt when I have to pull the tension back to replace the belt

You actually release the tension by turning the bolt CW, so it is tightening the bolt, not loosening.

Thanks but the picture is not what I have. Mine has a 14MM bolt through the middle of the pulley, and this kind of looks like a T60

It's an older style tensioner. I had one like that on a 2002 V70. Use 14MM bolt to slacken the tensioner.

You don't need to drain anything for aux belt change...
