Hi all:

My dash guages, displays, and lights are intermittently failing. Sometimes all the lights and displays go dark, tach, speedo, fuel and temp gauges drop to zero or will be stuck at a reading, all display icons may be lit at times, when I shut the car off dash lights may stay on. While driving everything may work normally, then problems occur again. I am thinking a short/loose connection in the wiring. Just wonder if anyone knows the best connection(s) to start looking at before I have to tear off the dash and start checking everything.

Thanks.

First thing to check is ignition switch. Try wiggling the key when the lights go to see if you can get them back

If the DIM its failing, repair service is $150 on Ebay. But check the other things first, ignition key, alternator, CEM

Tin pest, DIM circuit board needs solder reflowed. You can DIY if you have soldering station with a heat gun.

Thanks for the replies. I have wiggled the ignition and it never caused the gauges to come on. Would a problem with the DIM cause all 0f these gauge problems more so that a wiring short or harness connection problem?

All the dash gauges are controlled by microprocessor. If it is dead, the gauges are dead too.
