What is this clip I found in my 99 S70?

Post by 454cid »

I found this while vacuuming awhile back. Where did it fall off from? It's been sitting on my desk, and I'd like to put it back where it goes, or toss it.... last time I tossed something I found in the car, that I couldn't identify and couldn't imagine being a Volvo part, was a Volvo part. It was the front license plate spacer.

I don't remember, for sure. It may have been in the pocket in the driver's door, or it might also have been in the storage pocket under the glove box. I had the idea that someone had found it before me, and placed it there.

It is made to clip onto a flat surface like sheet metal then hang another part. I would be checking for loose interior panels.

I do have the panel under the steering wheel that's loose on one side. I'll see if I can figure out how to remove it the rest of the way.

Interior trim piece clip of some sort. It’s driving me nuts as I’ve seen it somewhere and can’t remember

Ask your canine friend in the back seat. He has better vision and a younger brain. :D Just like my kids ...

I'll keep it then, but move it off my desk into my "Volvo box". I think it might be the panel below my steering wheel. I tried pulling on it today, but then noticed a screw and some tar like glue holding it on. It's too cold for me to want to mess with it enough to get tools out, and clean up some black goo.

the black goo, particularly on the driver's side under tray on the dash it likely because the center screw mount has broken up or one of the 2 slots that the try slides into at the front has torn. The black goop is to hold it in place I'm guessing.

It might be for a drain hose under one of the Pillar trims.
