Post by flanders7 »

Hi guys

the driver's side heated seated does not work on my 2002 s60 D5 but it does on my passenger side. is it possible to swap the heating module (if that is what it is called) from passenger to driver's side? any help will be appreciated.

thanks for the help on my other questions too!!!

It's possible that it's the heating pad itself that's damaged and not the module...but if neither the upper or lower heating pads give off heat, it is possible to swap the control module and test. It's a small box under the seat near the rear. I've attached a blown up version of the part diagram, you want #18. If it turns out to be bad, the replacement part number is 9442947. If that doesn't work, suspect either the pad or the Power Seat Module, replacing a PSM requires dealer intervention since new modules have no software and need to have software loaded on them.

hi VCA,

thanks for quick response and so detailed too! i love it!

anyway since i sent the email a friend popped round with his computer hooked to the car and it said the it was the pad that has gone. so is it possible to do a straight swap and if so how easy is it to get to and install etc. do i need to take the seat apart? cheers again

Even if it says the Pad is gone, typically it's a frayed or broken wire to the pad, so make sure and check that before you start taking the cover off of the seat.
Good luck and keep us informed with this.
