PLZ Help (or BUY) our 01' S80 T6 (OIL.. LOTS of OIL)

Post by paulsonsmithfamily »

Hello all!
Will keep it short:
3Months ago son got a 1-owner sweet 2001 S80 T6 (he's had an 850 T5 & S60 T5 before).

All good till it started blowing oil (a quart every 5 miles from the timing belt area).

Replaced crank & oil pump seals per bro-in-law. Same issue, as soon as it warms up, out comes oil like made....

Replaced both cam seals on the timing side. Same issue....

Replaced the entire PCV system (GEEZ), wasn;t more than 40% plugged, amazing vacuum on the glove test.... still....

Once it hits operating temp & you touch the gas out comes oil & WE CAN'T figure it out!!!!

Son found himself jobless & broke. We have the car up for sale :(

So if you have any advice, thanks. If you want to buy it, just as nice.

Looks like it's coming from around the intake cam pulley..... but can't place it.....
Thanks!

Have you tried removing the timing belt guards, cleaning all of the area with degreaser, then watching as the engine warms up to see where the oil flow starts?

Yes - clean it off, watch it warm up, see where it's coming from. A bad cam seal, or the wrong size?

There's an additive you can put in the oil - doesn't hurt anything - and you use a UV / blacklight flashlight (available at normal auto parts stores). Clean up that part of the engine, warm it up, watch with this flashlight (a dark garage would help) and the chemical in the oil will show up as it starts to leak.
