I just did mine today, I don't know how the swedes crafted the most rust prone steel for those brackets, but it must have been a scientific breakthrough at the time.
As far as other things, I went to buy another car today, which I knew was burning a bit of oil, but on the test drive it drove great, I figured if I nursed it home 100 miles I could tinker away at it.
Died due to lack of gas 3 min from sellers house, miles til 0 said 40 miles. The seller graciously came with 2 gallons in a can, and the car started right up after a jump. It drove great, I pulled into a gas station, filled it up with super (the attendant did, thanks New Jersey....) and started right up.
Check engine light popped on and engine running a little rough(upper torque bushing was shot), so I pulled into a lot, and parked on a bit of a nose down slope. After that, car would crank away, no start.
Tried jumping it, swapping idle air controller with my other 98 V70XC, unplugged MAF, spray cleaned MAF, checked for spark, heard the fuel pump kick on, a mechanic came over and tried, could not get the thing to start, just an occasional sputter.
It got dark and then it got late, didn't think to check the fuel rail Schrader valve before heading home.
Codes that came in were for cylinder 4 injector low signal, and cylinder 4 injector open circuit. I tried unplugging it and starting the car, but no dice.....
Picture of my latest mistake and my previous mistake.
