Taking apart a Door on S70?

Post by Kyle »

I mentioned this in another topic but am curious if anyone knows how to take apart a door on the S70. I've removed 3 torque screws so far, and there are two more to go. those two seem to be seated a bit differently and may be a different size since they seem to strip with the same size torque wrench. also there are a bunch of bolts on the other side i'm not sure if i need to remove. i really just want to access the motor that can raise the window so would rather not dismantle more than necessary.

I have a 98 s70 and there was only one torx screw to remove and it was in the armrest. Is yours similiar? I hesitate to give advice without knowing if our doors are the same. I have the Chilton manual and would be happy to help even if it's different.

the Chilton manual has that after all 5 screws are out the door panel just lifts off. I am also having an intermittent power problems with the window motor. Our mechanic says that after awhile, the brushes start wearing out in the motor. After messing with mine for 2 days, when I took it to the mechanic, as soon as the door panel was removed, he pressed the switch and the window went right up. Frustrating! He said if it happened again and I didn't want to replace the motor, then possibly my bumping it made the brushes shake loose and might do the same again. Hope that helps.
