Post by manovlov »

Hy buddies,

I have a question. I had to move the fuel tank i moved this seal. Of course i didn't take pictures, otherwise, it would be not funny...).

Could someone tell me how to process to replace that seal ?

Thanks.

Sorry Manovlov, not quite sure I understand. Do you mean the rubber sealing rung under the large plastic ring that holds the fuel pump motor in place and seals it against the fuel tank? This may help me to understand better. Do you mean the seal under the ring in the 6th? picture:

Salut Neil,

Thanks for the link. Very useful to confirm i didn't make mistake. This is the rubber seal i talk about. It's the seal that comes inside behind the tank cap mean seal.

To me i remember it comes inside and first. But it's rock'n'roll to hang it on its place...

It has been a long time since I did this last! I have attached a picture below to try to remind myself how it fits. This is from my AWD P80 but the FWD is similar. The fuel filler 'cup' is attached to the pipe as you see, and then if I recall you pull it through the hole in the fuel filler compartment and then fit the locking ring as you have done. However, what that 2nd rubber rind is I am not sure. Sorry. I think I may have a filler neck in the garage so I will have a look tomorrow and also look at my own car and see if I can figure this out again.!

Not sure if the parts drawing helps:
