2004 Volvo S60
2004 Volvo S60
So my car has two minor but annoying issues. The first is the common: “alarm system service required,” and the second is that the lights don’t flash when I lock the doors. I’ve tried all the tricks I’ve seen on here such as reshutting all the doors and clicking the yellow button on the key fob multiple times, no dice. I found two connectors in the engine bay that aren’t plugged into anything, could anybody identify them? The first is right below the transmission cooler line coming from the radiator. The first is directly to the right of the airbox with the air filter. The second is right below the transmission cooler line coming from the radiator. Thanks!!

To fix alarm service required:

Some will take potting apart and replace the internal battery—likely threads on it here if you search.
I’ll defer other questions to others that may know.

if the battery acid from the nicad hasn't already burnt the alarm PC board you might be able to save it by washing with baking soda and water, on mine it was too late . I replaced with a junkyard unit for $11 but that was toast too.
I remove the passenger wheel, remove wheel well liner , you can see alarm bolted to the wheel arch forward of the wheel.
Its held in place by a security bolt.
Using a dremel with carbide cutoff wheel, grind a screw slot into the face of the bolt then use a stubby screwdriver to unscrew it.
You might need a riveter to reinstall wheel well liner.
I gave up trying to repair mine and left it unplugged.
