I dread thinking about doing this job simply due to the fact the bolts and studs for the heat shield and on the header might shear off rather than unscrew.
What's you experience on doing such a job?
The flex joint has a hole approximately 1/4 inch wide by 2 inches long. I'm wondering if using high heat silicone or something similar to patch the hole would work...
Changing the flex joint on a 2007 XC 70...

if the heat shield bolts break , toss the stinkin shield.
before diving in ,get something like this to suit your model year,
https://www.fcpeuro.com/Volvo-parts/V70 ... =8642449KT
and a new flex pipe of course, the ones with double liner, accordian inside wall is best.
I think its 2 1/2 inch x 10 inch, not sure, I'm trying to measure mine, I have to get it done in the next 10 days.
are you repairing or swapping the whole thing out.?
I'll be welding a new flex.
