LEDs would produce less heat, but that would trigger the bulb warning. I think your best option would be to use a high heat rated connector, and if you don't need them turn off the DRLs.

I think VIDA is required unfortunately.

The headlight switch has a small screw on the front (it is hidden) or on the back of the unit. Don't recall having to use Vida for that.

On an 850, this is Robert's video on the subject. Up here I have not seen that screw as I don't think we have that option. On the back at the top of the light switch there is a small white slider that does that as well.

My 850 had the screw on the switch, the V70 needs diagnostics to turn off

There are several methods on Vida depending on year model, this is for the facelift cars

In P80 platform there are variations across markets amd even regions. I believe US gets the DRl switch on front plate,( actually technically, rear of switch, visible to driver) Canada gets it hidden switch under dash

P2 is all VIDA driven

A good scanner is required. I am able to do it with a foxwell scanner with the Volvo liscense. Does not require a software load or purchase, it’s just a configuration switch. A dealership should only charge you for the time to do it.
