Re: Subframe Bushing insert job
thanks again. I put a little red locktite on them to be sure. I don't do much driving anyway. Those bushing inserts are looking better by the day..

You can reuse the 14 mm bolts, The bushings you got in the picture are for the rear of the car, the front ones should all be identical with same part number. You're in the homestretch now.........just get the right parts and finish the job, I'll pretend I didn't read that part about the bushing inserts!

I torqued the 17MM to 80 ft/lbs with a a dab or red locktite. I'm going to the dealer to get the right bushings, but it may be a few days before I can get time to do the work.
Thanks for the advice and support.

I have a question for the bushing gurus...
What is the BEST way to inspect the subframe bushings?
Do you guys use VISUAL inspection or go by other symptoms?
If Visual, where do I look?

,
I think the sub frame bushing inserts is one of those inexpensive add on so I think most people don't have it in mind to inspect them. Having done two I either was going to go through the trouble of replacing the sub bushings in addition to the inserts or just the inserts.
Below is the 00 S70 rear inserts. Haven't gotten to the fronts yet. Will do so with the strut install. The rear inserts was part of the rear suspension refresh with springs and shocks besides the U sub frame brace. Purchased from the owner of the car pictured. He had several.

I recently replaced the subframe bushings on my 08 S60. Hard to tell how hard the rubber has gotten until you pull them out. Not a terribly bad job and Volvo bushings aren’t too expensive. I found a Harbor Freight electric impact to be quite helpful driving them in…just make sure they are squared up right.
