I honestly couldn't tell you as it ended up exploding out the other end of the tube and I threw it away. It could have been silicone tile caulk or maybe gorilla glue construction adhesive. I do know that using polyurethane such as sikaflex used for windshield bonds works well, you just need a high ratio 26:1 caulk gun (normal cheap steel ones are 5:1-10:1 ratios). If you're doing anything involving steel you should also stay away from silicone, the guy who replaced my windshield told me it is acidic when curing and will etch into steel and cause it to rust under the silicone. He showed me some pictures of cars someone tried to use silicone sealant to attach the windshield and it ended up rusting away the entire windshield frames.MoVolvos wrote: ↑09 Nov 2023, 17:24
What did you use? The high temp chaulk I used did not dry all the way through so wasn't hard. I inserted some thick radiator hoses and filled with the high temp chaulk. Winded up oozing a little.
Though the hot glue was sufficiently hard it couldn't with stand the engine heat. Imagine if the glue stick could handle the heat. Two large sticks was sufficient to fill it.
As to why I did it? Seeing how many parts have gone NLA or been backordered, or how the availability of aftermarket parts variety has dwindled gives me anxiety.
