Hello Gentlemen and Happy New Year!
I want to change out my ATF but using the slower, less taxing method where you drain about 3.25 quarts from the
sump and then re-fill from the top dipstick with a funnel. I saw a video that stated to do this again after driving 1,000
miles. Do you think I can repeat this procedure a little sooner than that, say 500-750 miles since my daily commute
Is only 25 miles?

It's really all opinions. You'd already change a majority of the fluids only for the next round to be less than that. I only changed it once and never bothered doing another round.
I'd say you either do it back to back or whenever you get to it. Maybe just do it with your next oil change.

While you can do it earlier I’m with Chris that at the next oil change is easiest as you are already under the car with a drain pan and tools.
Now if it is really dirty and you want it done sooner I’d guess even with two or three drives to work it’ll be mixed up enough you could change again.
When I first bought my 08 S60 the ATF was dirty so I did the first change, second at 1000 miles and third at next oil change. Just did a fourth—20k since my last one and the fluid looks pretty good.

I’ve done two Volvo Aisin automatics via the transmission cooler return flush method and each took right at 12 quarts for the fluid to be pink and clear.

My atf was very contaminated. The first time i ever did a drain and fill it was like used diesel oil. Pitch black
Pictures speak a thousand words don't they. The first picture is already at 6 or 7l drain I ever did.
The last picture is after 30l(31 quarts). Better but not fully.

You can do it as soon as the torque converter had a few minutes to properly mix old and new fluids. Doing more than one d&f close to each other makes sense totally. Mileage does not matter for ATF contamination, it's mainly a linear function of how many gear shifts the transmission served in that period.Mr. Detail wrote: ↑02 Jan 2024, 10:23 Hello Gentlemen and Happy New Year!
