Checking the transmission fluid

Post by reigox »

Hey, i have a question about checking the transmission fluid, i don't understand the stick markings, is this the right amount? I was told to check the fluid when the engine is running.

The book says checking ATF with engine running, and hot.

I have now moved away from that myself and check with engine off and cold in the morning.
Info in forum.

I always pull the stick out first, while the engine is running and clean it really good, so there's no trace of oil. Then reinsert it for about two seconds or so, remove it and look for the oil line on your dry dip stick.
Its a pain to do it and get an accurate reading. I also have a spot nearby at a township building where I can check it on a perfectly flat surface.
Really clean the dip stick good before getting your final reading.
