V8 in a P3 XC wagon??

Post by BlackBart »

Just ran across this IPD project car. Hmmm..
Can they do this because one of the XC90 V8 chassis's is the same? I'll have to watch these.

You should see the V8 turbo setup, everyone said they can't be turboed, until they can be.

Or maybe not so much, except maybe a custom exhaust header.

Oh, I watched a couple of these - this is the Yamaha V8 in an S80 chassis. Most everything swaps over with factory parts from one of the two cars.

Sounds like they're going to butch it up as an "off-road" project wagon with a lift etc. No doubt lots of bars and racks and way too many lights.

I think I would have made it a low, non-XC, hotrod road wagon with nice wheels and that nice blue.

The wiki tells me:
"Although the B8444S shares its Yamaha origination, its transverse layout, and its 60 degree bank angle, officials of all three companies involved insist that the Volvo V8 is not related to the (Ford) SHO engine; the die-cast open-deck aluminum Volvo block is clearly different from the sand-cast closed-deck aluminum SHO engine block although the two engines share many common dimensions including bore centers, stroke, bearing journal diameters, and deck height."

Volvo B8444S = Bensin (gasoline) / V8 / 4.4 liters / 4 valves per cylinder / S for suction (naturally aspirated.) This engine uses original Volvo parts.

All aluminum block and heads, a bit over 310 hp, with 325 lb-ft of torque. Decent.

Ohh, Episode 4 - there is a LOT of software coordination work involved, module network communication issues, reloading software, scanning modules, getting a 2007 transmission to communicate with a 2008 module, etc etc. Not for the faint of heart it seems.
