Are you sure you are looking at the right gasket? The one you show is for the four speed trans. I thought the 2000's had the five speed trans. I couldn't find the Duraprene gasket either except as part of overhaul kits (wiitrans.com). I would still use the ebay part dry or with Hondabond4 or any good gasket sealer. I'm just not sure about getting the trans surface to stay dry long enough for any sealer to work by itself for long. Others may wish to recommend different products or cleaning procedures.

I have the AW 50-42LE 4-speed. I found the gasket here as well and sent an email for a description https://www.oregonperformancetransmissi ... =NTP-88170
Hondabond 4 is rated to 300 deg F and the HT is 600
BTW the link you sent should be wittrans.com
I'm assuming the trans fluid needs to be drained as well?

I saw the Oregon link too, but was hesitant to recommend them without seeing a picture. You figured that out. The HB4 was used at a friend of mine's trans shop for case halves, also for motorcycle engine and trans cases and you can find it locally at most Honda powersports retailers. Yes, Whatever it Takes transmission Parts. They're reputable. They will want you to set up an account with them, but are good to work with after that. Yes it has to be drained and the cooler line will never stop dripping so be prepared to plug it or suffer endless oil running. down your arms. Put a small tarp down under the car.

Got the cover off. I found I didn't need to remove the dipstick but I did need to drain the coolant and disconnect the bottom hose. Also had to release the ziptie holding the temp sensor cable. The screw that was between this cover and the smaller cover next to it was by far the hardest. Had to use an L-shaped torx wrench with a box wrench on the short end gripped by a pair of Visegrips and gripped again at 90 degrees by another pair of Vicegrips. Will be going back with hex head bolts and lock washers. The screws that came out had a white-green crumbly material on them. A thread locker of some sort? Maybe felt necessary since the lock washers were flat. Someone had definitely been in there before. There was no gasket - just a pink sealant. OK to spray the valve body with carb cleaner?

Ah, your S70 is a GLT, so a 4 speed auto in 2000! That makes more sense now. The NA and the V70R had 5 speed autos in 2000.

I came across this document when looking for the torque spec on the cover bolts (this doc says 7-11 ft-lbs). I'm guessing you would want to go to the higher end with a gasket vs just sealant (this doc calls for just sealant). After much searching I found and purchased a Duraprene gasket from transpartsonline in Cal. Their part number is 89300AF (asked but did not get a clear answer on why the part number isn't 89301AF as called out in the Aisin Warner parts breakdown).
