Rear brake hoses

I’m having trouble removing the rear brake hoses partly because the flare wrench kit from harbor freight had both sides of the labeled 13/14 wrench be actually 14mm. The rear hose looks like this with the fronts being worse. If I can’t get it out, can I just leave it for the next 5+ years? Here is what it looks like. Note the two cracks.

Also one of the replacement rear brake hoses (both the same brand) doesn’t have that weight thing. Is this fine?

I got a properly manufactured flare wrench from napa, and was able to get it off!

Those are a pain in the ass, you have to soak them for a couple weeks in penetrating fluid, and you don’t want to strip them or damage the hard line. I find that the flare wrenches are useless unless they’re Snap on or Mac Tools. For some reason they always wreck the nut before loosening it.

On a hose you will be replacing, you can cut the old hose short and use a deep, 6 point socket to loosen the hose end.
Any other time use only the BEST flare wrenches if you suspect rust. Good flare wrenches are wide and have heavy reinforcement on the sides.

I was going to say I think Eric The Car did the same thing in one of his videos . Whatever it takes as it won't be used again.

I think that black ring is probably hard rubber where the hose would rub against a suspension piece.

Good job getting them off.
