the subframe on the coupe is really nice and fits on other p80ies.

M58 transmissions are not too hard to find in Europe, but shipping to the states is a hassle noone wants to do. It's a question how much it's worth to you, though.

I'm going through manual swap threads - I guess I'm taking out the AWD and going FWD. If that's the trade-off, I'll take the third pedal.
Not sure who in my area can help with the ECU flash part. That might be a challenge.

Robert did the same awd/fwd conversion on his son in laws car not long ago, can't remember if it was manual swapped too. Fuel tank and all the fuel lines ended up being a stumble, mostly because he didn't get it all on the first trip to the salvage yard. I think he used stuff off a convertible, and the rear track was wider - which he already knew since he has the same rear setup on his 850T5R.
I figured I'd just remove the rear driveshaft, coupler, etc and call it good. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

I have a small selection of driveshafts in the corner of the garage myself.

I guess that works, but it's far from ideal. The delta link is a much better and simpler suspension setup that you can actually get parts for. The full rear end can be swapped from the C70, but the tank and lines are different so you'd need the setup from a FWD '98 if going that direction.

Also make sure to save the AWD parts you removed - they're worth some money and very difficult to find, so you can get some of your money back on the swap by selling that stuff.

I've been pondering this in prep for the manual swap.
Regarding the ECU, is that something I can pull from the 2000 C70 and have it re-flashed for the 98 V70? Just so there's minimal down time.
Who reliably does ECU reprogramming these days?

Thanks.

I think the ECU between 98 and 99 completely changed. Get a used 98 ECU for the flash

A suggestion would be to call Robert, I'm sure he would be glad to talk with you about it. His cell in listed on his website.

Random question here, since I'm still mentally preparing for the swap, maybe this summer.
I hear that I can swap in the rear delta link suspension from the C70 when converting to FWD (my AWD system doesn't work anyway).. My question is, can I swap the gas tank over from the coupe as well?
What is compatible?

The c70 rear axle is a wider track than the v70 so you need to roll the fenders to make it fit.

Any ideas about the gas tank?
